So, it's shingles and of course the chicken pox vaccination is the only one missing from the Badoo's immuniation repetoire. So of course even though we hustled her in for her 'pin' (her word) this morning, I'm going to give her chicken pox the week before she's meant to start Kindergarten thereby making her miss her first ever week of school. So of course all the other little Kindy girls will have happily paired off by then. So of course my Badooburger will miss out on making a bosum buddy for life. So of course she will spend her days looking wistfully over at all her little twinned up classmates and wishing she were them just one time for one day just once. So of course her schooling experience will have a miserable start and she will hate it and never want to return. So of course she won't get a proper education. So of course...
Dear god, my rash has ruined my Badoo's life. Look at that sad little Badoo up there...
But, despite it all, this week I'm grateful for...
317. Answers - it's just shingles. Despite appearances, it's not going to grow arms and torch me in the night.
318. Friends with beach houses - we're off for the weekend!
319. Lazy days - I am going to miss you so much when school goes back next week. I miss the kids already.
What's got you grateful this week, my lovelies?

Glad to hear its nothing too sinister. Your badoo will be just fine, a week is nothing..x
Hope it's not too bad my husband has had the shingles for a bit over a week now and it seems awful.
Here's hoping her playmate soulmate starts late too and they bond over that.
Awww.
I get shingles when stressed - or when one of my students has chcken pox!!
Poor Badoo.
I'm glad you're not catastrophising the situation though!!
As I tend to do.
:-) xx
Aww she's so cute! Thank god you got it diagnosed in time for the meds. Daniel had shingles and didn't get it diagnosed quick enough and he was in the WORST hellish pain imaginable - he said it was like knives going into his back and then with a few twists and turns. On the plus side, you and Badoo will have a lovely girly week together :-)
I had the chicken pox in second grade and missed two weeks of school. We were mostly taught whole word reading and the two weeks I missed were the only two weeks of phonics in the curriculum. Thank goodness for spell check is all I have to say!
Fingers crossed she doesn't actually get chicken pox but if she does, I hope it is a mild case and I know you two will have a lovely week of movies on the couch and "sick food" together!
Enjoy the beach house! Sounds like just what you need to rest up and recover! Gorgeous pic of your little one xx
Glad it's nothing worse... Usually I am desperate for the kids to get back to school. Grateful to report that there are mixed feelings this year. Everything changes.
Aw, poor little Badoo... Better that she miss a week than being known as the kid who gave everyone the pox? That would be worse me-thinks.
Have a fantastic weekend.
x
LOVE your photos. You are amazing at that.
Sorry about the shingles. x
Friends with beach houses ROCK!!!! Enjoy!!! x
Poor little Badoo. Sending lots of virtual hugs and love.
Happy weekending!
Claire x
Oh Bron, this is how I build everything up in my mind, then it turns out fine. Bell started kindy late and she's still friends with one of her kindy buds, years later. Your little possum will be fine, who could resist that gorgeous charm?
And as for you and your shingles.....don't stress! Enjoy your weekend away xx
You couldn't possibly be overthinking this could you?
Well it sounds like you haven't given it to her yet so ... Fingers crossed for the Badoo (gorgeous thing that she is)
Oh you poor thing! :( I am sure the Badoo's delayed start will not affect her friendships. Hope the beach house break helps xx
Guilt and motherhood, hey? They seem to go hand in hand. My daughter started kindy a little bit late, and it took her a while to make buddies, but she loves it now, and seems to be friends with everyone. This might have had more to do with her being a quiet observer- she's always held back a bit until she knows the score. Anyway, hope you enjoy your extra week of holidays! xK
she probably wont get it...relax and enjoy the beach house!!
Enjoy the beach house, bloody shingles, I'm lead to believe they're bloody nasty.
You poor thing. Hope it all goes well this week and that everything turns out OKAY. Good luck and enjoy the beach house!
Also, can I ask what filter you asked for that amazing photo? xx
Hope your shungles is mild and gone very soon, heave heard it can be pretty nasty for adults! Also hoping the rest of your fam stay pox free. Great that you still found some gratitude, I'm sure I'd struggle to be grateful in midst of shingles!
Oh no... SHINGLES? That's awful (and so stressed induced). You had been saying things have been full on for you. Please, please, PLEASE rest up and take it easy. Your beach house will be just perfect for you right now. You deserve it. xx
Haha ruined it indeed. Bad mother. Super bad.
And shingles SUCKS. I had it once undiagnosed for over a week and gave an almost 60 year old colleague the chicken pox that almost killed him! Bad colleague, super bad colleague.
Hope you recover soon enough, and maybe, just maybe, Badoo might escape it? Thinking of you!
Ronnie xo
Oh dear,poor Badoo
Chicken pox is no fun at all (is calamine lotion still a thing
I've when I was a kid?)
at least it's a one time thing
Xx

Yay! You're letting me know you're there. In reality I'm HOPELESS at replying, but in my head I am very very good. Happy day to you! x
